Privacy policy

Jayb is a budgeting app and money manager. Your money is personal, so this page says plainly what we keep, why we keep it, and what we never do with it.
What we keep
- Your name, email address and profile picture from signing up, with email or Google.
- What you add to the app: accounts and their balances, transactions, categories, budgets, saving goals, people you lend to or borrow from, and your settings.
- Your conversations with the assistant, so you can come back to them.
- Receipts and bank statements you choose to upload.
- If you import from Hysab Kytab, the transactions in the file you choose.
Why we keep it
Only to run the app for you: to show your balances, budgets and reports, answer your questions, send the reminders you turn on, and keep everything in sync across your devices. We don't sell your data, we don't show you ads, and we don't use your data to advertise to anyone.
Who can see it
- Only you, by default. Your spending, reports and budgets are yours alone.
- If you share an account with someone, they see that account's balance and what's recorded on it. Your own spending elsewhere stays private.
- If you budget together as a family, the other person sees the family budgets and who spent what in them, and nothing else of yours.
- Receipts and statements are stored privately and are only ever shown to you.
Who helps us run it
We use a few trusted service providers to host the app, store your data and run its features. They handle your data only to provide those services to us, under confidentiality, and never for their own purposes.
Cookies and similar storage
We use the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to show your latest data, and your browser remembers small preferences such as light or dark theme. We measure how fast pages load, without identifying you. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Keeping it safe
Your data travels over encrypted connections and is stored with providers that encrypt it at rest. Every change made by you or the assistant is logged, and the assistant asks before anything risky, like deleting.
Your choices
- Change or delete any transaction, account, budget or goal at any time.
- Delete all your chats from Settings.
- Reset your account from Settings, which deletes everything you've added and starts you again with the default categories.
- Turn reminders and phone notifications on or off in Settings.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and its date, and tell you in the app when the change matters to you.
