# Share an account without sharing everything

Source: https://www.jayb.io/features/shared-accounts

Jayb is an AI budgeting app and money manager that lets two people use the same account. Share a joint bank account, a wallet or the household cash with someone who has a Jayb account: both of you see its balance and can add to it. Each person's spending, reports and budgets stay their own, so sharing an account never mixes up your numbers.

## One balance, both of you

- The account's owner invites someone with a Jayb account by email; they accept in their bell.
- Both see the balance and can add entries to it.
- The balance is the account's, whoever added what.

## Your numbers stay yours

- Each person's spending, reports and budgets are their own, even on a shared account.
- What you spend from the shared account counts in your budgets, and what they spend counts in theirs.

## Good to know

- Only people already on Jayb can be invited, so an invitation never goes to someone who can't see it.
- Invitations wait in the bell until they're answered, and the owner hears back either way.
- The balance is worked out for the account itself, so both of you always see the same figure.
- Sharing an account is separate from family budgets: you can use either, or both.

## In control

- Cancel an invitation, stop sharing with someone, or leave an account shared with you.
- When someone leaves, what they added stays on the account, and the owner is told.
- Jayb AI can share, cancel, stop sharing or leave for you; removing someone waits for your Confirm.

## How it works

1. **Open the account**: On the account you own, choose to share it.
2. **Invite by email**: Enter the email they use for Jayb.
3. **They accept**: The invitation is in their bell; you're told when they answer.
4. **Use it together**: Both of you add to it, and both see the balance.

## Who it's for

- Couples with a joint bank account.
- Families keeping track of the household cash.
- Partners sharing one wallet for a small business or a trip.
- Flatmates or siblings who keep a common pot for the house.

## Questions

### Does the other person need a Jayb account?

Yes. Only people already on Jayb can be invited, by the email they use for it.

### Will their spending show in my reports?

No. Each person's spending, reports and budgets are their own, even on a shared account.

### What happens when someone leaves?

What they added stays on the account, and the owner is told.

### Can Jayb AI share an account for me?

Yes. Ask it to share an account, cancel an invitation, stop sharing with someone or leave an account shared with you. Removing someone waits for your Confirm.

### Is a shared account the same as a family budget?

No. A shared account is one account two people use. A family budget adds up both people's spending against shared limits, from their own accounts.
